Week 2: Strategy, Effective Content, and How to Remain Consistent.

Let’s begin!! In the first week, you learned how TikTok’s algorithm and SEO work, started optimizing your profile, and uploaded your first content. This week, you’ll take your content to the next level with a solid strategy. You’ll learn to create posts that leverage viral trends, optimize descriptions and calls-to-action (CTAs) to connect with your audience, and schedule videos at ideal times to maximize reach.

1. How to Create a Content Strategy

If you’re unsure where to start with your TikTok content strategy, here are the essential steps to develop it.

💡 Metritip: An optimized profile, like we discussed in week 1, is essential for better engagement with your audience. If you haven’t yet made the necessary adjustments, go back to week 1 and get started. Your success begins here!

Now, let’s get to the essential steps:

  • Focus on your ideal customer: Knowing your audience is key to your strategy. Identify your target audience and their problems and needs to create relevant content. Then use hashtags to find your ideal customer! Think about what tags they would use, and use TikTok’s hashtag search to uncover what is trending or being searched for.

  • Hit the mark with your TikTok content: Your TikTok content should align with your ideal customer and blend education, entertainment, and information to attract them. For example, if you have a health food brand:

Educational: Answer common questions like “Do carbs make you gain weight if eaten at night?” This type of content is evergreen and always relevant.

Entertainment: Create fun recipes with your products, such as “5-Ingredient Protein-Packed Breakfast” or “The Rock’s 5-Minute Breakfast.”

Informational: Share updates, offers, and industry news! This type of content is more short-lived—so use it sparingly.

  • Choose your posting frequency: One common question is: How often should I post? This decision is critical for your strategy. On TikTok, users often follow you after watching 7 to 9 videos, so maintaining a consistent posting schedule increases your chances of gaining followers. Avoid posting heavily in one day and then stopping for a week, as this can lead to follower loss and decreased visibility.

  • Leverage your TikTok’s “link in bio” feature: To grow on TikTok, use a “link in bio” to drive traffic to other social media, online stores, blogs, or even YouTube channels, turning followers into customers. Although TikTok allows only one link, Metricool’s Premium plans offer SmartLinks, enabling you to add multiple URLs and customize them.

It’s a key step to attract traffic to your pages!

  • Edit your videos: TikTok is a highly competitive platform, so don’t upload unedited content. Review your videos, add trending music, and optimize the content. This will make your feed more attractive to followers and platform users. Last week, we covered some editing tips with CapCut.

  • Be your authentic self: It’s not about making completely unfiltered videos; it’s about setting aside insecurities and creating genuine, engaging content. Every brand has its unique strategy, but your challenge is to connect with your audience by being real and providing value. Gone are the days where everything needs to be picture perfect.

  • Create SEO-optimized content: Beyond entertainment, it’s essential to work on your SEO strategy to attract new users and increase views. TikTok is integrating into Google search results and rewards accounts that optimize titles and hashtags. Plus, you’ll find that SEO on TikTok is more important than ever with users searching there first over Google.

  • Choose the right hashtags: Using the right hashtags is key to positioning your content and increasing views. Select tags that address your audience’s issues, and add general hashtags to make it easier for users to find your videos. Have a good mix of specific and more general. If you didn’t know, when inputting hashtags on TikTok, an autocompleted list will appear with popular hashtags and their view counts.

  • Analyze your account’s performance: Reviewing analytics is essential to assess your strategy. In TikTok’s “Creator Tools”, you’ll find data on community growth, interactions, and the best posting times.

With millions of videos on TikTok, is it possible to stand out and go viral? Although there’s no magic formula, several tips can help you create attractive content that captures users’ attention and boosts your chances of going viral.
Find a comfortable spot and take note of these tricks to go viral on TikTok. Let’s get started!

How to go viral on TikTok?
  • Join trends

TikTok is known for daily trends like sounds, effects, challenges, or dances. Stay updated to join in on time and maximize your visibility in the “For You” feed.

If you think you can’t adapt trends to your niche, think again. There’s almost always a way to do it. You just have to get creative, get ready to show your fun side and record!

  • Start your videos with a hook

Use the 3-second rule! Users will quickly decide whether to keep watching or scroll. Capture their attention from the start with hooks that spark curiosity. Increased retention time improves visibility on TikTok, as it prioritizes interesting content. Write a strong script while getting straight to the point.

  • Be consistent with your posts

Consistency is key to building your community and increasing interaction and views, along with the likelihood of your content going viral. We know that managing many different social networks can be overwhelming, but there are formulas to help you establish this habit. In this video, we show you how to create content consistently.

  • Post at the best times

Publish when your followers are most active to boost video reach. Use Metricool’s scheduler to find the best hours(based on your own data) and activate the follower percentage feature for even extra precision. This way, you’ll increase views and interactions.

  • Encourage interaction

Promote engagement in your videos to capture TikTok’s algorithm. Use open-ended questions, CTAs, create Duets, use the “Stitch” option, or discuss current topics.

  • Storytelling is the art of narrating stories. Use this technique in your video scripts to captivate users and keep them watching till the end.

If storytelling is not your strong suit, it’s time to get better! In this video, we’ll show you how to learn to tell a story in less than 15 seconds.

  • Use relevant hashtags

Boost views with strategic hashtags—they help TikTok’s algorithm understand your content and show it to interested users. Ideally, use 3 to 5 specific hashtags in addition to any generic ones you plan on using.

In Metricool’s planner, you can search for related hashtags and view their views.

  • Quality over quantity

Quality or quantity? The answer is quality.

Prioritize videos that add value and are shareable to reach new audiences. Balance educational content with entertaining or inspirational videos to differentiate yourself.

Before you publish, put yourself in your audience’s shoes: Is the topic interesting? Does it provide value? Would they share it?

  • Optimize with SEO

As you saw in week 1, SEO is key on TikTok and essential to go viral. Use it to increase the visibility of your videos and facilitate interaction, signaling to TikTok the relevance of your content.

3. Optimize your Posts

Having clear copy for your videos is crucial. The description box is not only for explaining what your video is about but also serves to position your video in searches since TikTok and Google consider this text in their SEO.

Here are some examples of different types of copy for your videos: ideal to stand out from the competition or for those days without ideas.

  • Hooks for TikTok

One of the ways to keep a user engaged with your video is to leave a tip or some valuable content at the end.

Remember, besides hooking the user at the beginning of the video, you should also aim to hook them in the copy and let them know the video has information that interests them.

  1. Stay until the end of the video.
  2. I’ll share the solution at the end of the video..
  3. Watch until the end!
  4. You will never believe how this ends…
  5. Did you know…
  6. This was unexpected/
  7. I’ll tell you how at the end.
  • Short phrases for TikTok

Short, but intense.

A good description that helps users doesn’t have to be long, but it does need to be good enough to get a like, share or view.

Here are some ideas for short descriptions for TikTok:

  1. You will never believe this!
  2. Grab your popcorn and enjoy…
  3.  Tricks to succeed on TikTok

  • Descriptions to get interactions

It’s classic on socials to want interactions. It should be what you are aiming for. This is where your ability to get users to interact comes into play.

Here are some examples:

  1. Comment how many you got right.

3.1 Tips for a perfect description on TikTok

  • First of all, think about your audience.

That is, know who you are targeting: Is it a young audience? Is it Gen Z? The language you use in your posts has to connect with your audience. They need to feel that you are addressing them specifically. This will get them to watch your videos and have a good number of interactions.

  • Choose the voice of your brand wisely.

If you connect with your audience through language, the voice of your brand will make all users identify your copy with your brand: when someone sees one of your publications, they will know it’s you.

How to find it? Know what emotion you want to convey and what you want to be associated with. Choose your brand archetype, leaving in the center the objective you want to pursue. Finally, decide the tone you are going to choose! It’s more than likely not going to be the same tone on TikTok that’s more casual than on LinkedIn, where you are more professional.

  • Be careful with SEO.

The description on your TikTok videos is one of the areas that the social network uses to position your videos. Therefore it is important to use the keyword of the video in the caption. Make sure to include interesting hashtags related to your content that will help you with positioning.

4. Schedule your TikToks at the Best Time.

What is the best time to post on TikTok? Well, it depends on each account, the content you upload and how your audience behaves.

But according to our Short-Form Video Study, the best time to post on TikTok is at 6 p.m., where we recorded an average of 22,459 views.

4.1 Best times to post on TikTok

To figure out the best time to post on TikTok, consider when your followers are most active. For our Metricool account, we have observed that our TikToks get more interactions around 3-4 PM and later in the evenings, possibly because this is a time when users are winding down from their busy days.

To find out what times are best for your account:

  1. Log in to your TikTok account.
  2. Switch to a Business account (personal accounts do not work).
  3. Click on the three lines of your profile and select “Creator Tools”, then under  Analytics, select “View All”.
  4. Go to “Followers” and scroll down to “Follower Insights” to see when they are most active.

It’s also helpful to know the nationality of your audience so you know when they are awake and active. Any information about their behavior will help you choose the best time for your posts.

4.2 Best time to upload TikToks with Metricool.

To know the best day and time to post on TikTok, use Metricool. This tool provides detailed information about the percentage of users connected at each time.

As a reminder, in week 1 of the course we saw how to identify the best times to post on TikTok using Metricool. Refer back to that video if you need a refresher on how to do it.

💡 Metritip: To increase your views on TikTok: analyze where your audience is located and post at times when they would be more likely to be active. Focus on the videos they like the most and maintain a daily posting frequency.
