Bluesky Starter Packs: Curate and Share Top Feeds and Accounts

11 April 2025

On Bluesky Social, the decentralized X (Twitter) alternative, it’s not the algorithms that decide what you see on the platform. Instead, you curate your own feed. That’s exactly why Bluesky introduced the Bluesky Starter Packs last year—little helpers designed to make it easier for new users to get started on Bluesky.

Think of them as social media goodie bags: If you’ve been using Bluesky for a while, you can send a curated selection of exciting feeds and accounts on specific topics directly to others. Newbies then receive a bundle of interesting content without having to search for it themselves.

Stick around—we’ll show you everything you need to know about Bluesky Starter Packs!

What are Bluesky Starter Packs?

Bluesky Starter Packs are designed to help new users get started more easily on the platform. Each pack includes 50 recommended accounts and up to 3 custom feeds that you can add directly to your feed. If you’ve been on Bluesky for a while, you can create your own Starter Packs and share them either publicly or via a QR code with others.

How to Create Your Own Bluesky Starter Pack Step by Step

Here’s what you need to do—don’t worry, it’s easier than you think.

  1. Log in: Sign in to Bluesky as usual.
  2. Open your profile: Tap on your profile in the bottom right (you’ll recognize it by the “@”-handle).
  3. Find the Starter Packs tab: Swipe through the tabs below your name and tap on “Starter Packs”.
  4. Create a pack: Now you have two options:
    • “Make one for me”: Bluesky automatically puts together a pack for you.
    • “Create”: You build your own starter pack.

  1. Verify your email: If you haven’t done so already, you’ll need to verify your email. You’ll receive a code in your inbox to enter.
  2. Automatically or manually:
    • If you choose “Make one for me”, Bluesky will suggest accounts from your network.
    • If you create it yourself, give your starter pack a name (e.g., “Social Media News” or “Creative Minds”), write a brief description, and click “Next”.
  3. Select people: Choose up to 150 profiles you’d like to recommend your starter pack to.
  4. Choose feeds: Add some feeds to your starter pack. Search for feeds you’d like to recommend to others. You can add up to 3 feeds. Then click “Finish”.
  5. Done? Share it! Your Bluesky Starter Pack is now ready. You can share it directly via a link or QR code. This helps others get started with Bluesky faster.

You can create as many starter packs as you want—they’ll all appear in your Starter Packs tab.

Bluesky Starter Packs are a great way to build a community. By creating your own pack, you can personally curate content and bring people into your Bluesky community, providing real value.

How to Delete Your Starter Pack

You’ve created a starter pack, but now you want to get rid of it? No problem, here’s how you go about that:

  1. Open your profile and go to the “Starter Packs” tab.
  2. Select the pack you want to delete
  3. Tap the three dots (“…”) in the top right.
  4. There, you can either edit or delete your pack.

With one click, the pack is gone—and you can always create a new one that suits you better.

How to Find Starter Packs

Starter Packs don’t currently show up directly in the app’s search—but don’t worry, you can still easily discover them:

  • Someone sends you a link or QR code.
  • You see them in a post within the app.
  • They are directly linked in someone’s profile.
  • Or, you can browse the Bluesky Directory for Starter Packs—there are over 280,000 packs waiting for you.

💡 Tip: If you find a great pack, save it or send it directly to your friends.

Let’s say you’re into social media—just grab a Starter Pack on that topic. You’ll instantly discover a bunch of exciting accounts without having to dig around yourself.
