Top Mental Health Influencers 2024

12 October 2023

Did you know that 43.8 million adults experience mental illness in a given year and 1 in 5 adults in America experience a mental illness? That is a huge eye-opening number and for years social media did not help with this, in fact for many people their mental health got exponentially worse due to social media. This is not to say that this is no longer true, but there is a group of influencers that are using their platforms to advocate for change while discussing the realness of mental health.

These influencers rose during the time of the pandemic and continue to share their experiences/stories today. During the worldwide pandemic, there was no doubt that many people were struggling mentally with being stuck inside their homes, so these influencers decided to step up and share their raw mental health issues as well as healthy coping to the internet.

What is a Mental Health Influencer?

A mental health influencer is anyone using their social media platform to discuss mental health, self-care, or emotional wellness. These people can be anyone from a therapist, psychiatrist, or just someone who has struggled themselves and chooses to discuss it with their followers.

Sharing stories and experiences can help spread awareness about mental health as well as educate more people about the symptoms of different illnesses, and even advocate for therapy and healthy coping services.

Mental health influencers have made a big difference for many people and they deserve some recognition. Let’s explore some mental health influencers that are making a difference today.

🌈 My golden rules below👇 Feel free to share ♥️ • You don’t have to start with something overwhelming. Pick something that feels challenging but manageable. • If you can stay in the feared situation for as long as possible your body will habituate to your environment and calm over time. • During that time use self-soothing skills to help you through it. • The more you repeat a behaviour the more it becomes part of your comfort zone. • Allow fear to be with you. Don’t push it away. • Avoidance is the number one thing that feeds anxiety and makes it worse over time. So if there is something that you want to master but it makes you anxious, do it as often as you possibly can. • Learn how to use basic skills to calm the mind through the body (see book for detailed description of this). What is that thing you’ve been avoiding because it makes you anxious? 👉 More on this in my international bestselling book – Why Has Nobody Told Me This Before? (Currently -50% see link in bio). Filled with insights from therapy about how to deal with real life problems.
