What is Faceless Marketing?

12 March 2024

Where are my ghostwriters, marketers, and creatives at? There are brilliant marketers out there, but they may not want to be in front of the camera every day. However, if you have a passion for social media marketing and want to flaunt your expertise, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to be the face of your channels. This is where faceless marketing could come in handy.

Social media is fast-moving and trends are here and gone in just days, so filming or posting content having to do with trends could be hard to jump on top of promptly. Faceless marketing can help you in this department as well. So, what does faceless marketing mean?

What is Digital Faceless Marketing

The importance of influencer marketing has taken off, but when defining faceless marketing, think of it as the complete opposite of influencers. Instead of relying on figureheads to represent their brand, faceless marketing relies on the brand itself. Many people get attached to the faces or the popularity of people themselves to represent a brand instead of loving to follow the brand strictly for the brand’s values and offer itself.

When brands use faceless marketing, their goal is to make an impression on their audience strictly through their brand’s voice, aesthetic, and way of messaging rather than attaching their audience to a specific person or people integrated with the brand.

Benefits of Faceless Marketing

Although as marketers we are told time after time that showing your face and humanizing your brand is a good thing, there are actually several benefits to being faceless as well. Here are some to keep in mind.

Cost Effective

If you have worked with influencers before or just know about the average rate influencers charge, you know that it is quite expensive. By using faceless marketing you are cutting that cost out completely.

Saves Time

When you are a part of your content, filming videos and taking photos takes time. When you choose to use faceless marketing you do not have to spend time filming or photographing yourself or others.

Direct Focus on Your Brand

As we briefly discussed above, many people can get hooked on a brand because of their love for an employee or an influencer working with your brand. Faceless marketing takes away this risk completely. You will know that when audience members connect with you it is because of their interest in your company’s brand values, products, services, etc.

Increased Anonymity

I’m sure you have heard of a brand that put all their eggs in one basket, meaning they relied heavily on an influencer to get a brand name out there. What if the influencer doesn’t want to work with this brand anymore? You have now lost a huge part of your social media marketing strategy that was too heavily relied on one strategy.

Increases Authenticity

Authenticity is something that many users search for when supporting brands. Faceless marketing allows you to create and foster an authentic relationship with your audience by strictly focusing on the brand’s voice itself rather than associating it with a person or people.

Aside from all of these benefits, many people enjoy creating an image of a brand in their head based on what is posted on the account, the voice used, etc. It may also elicit more engagement. If users are commenting on a brand rather than a person’s account, they may feel free to be themselves and comment on what they want. Long story short, the mystery of a faceless account can be fun!

How to Be a Faceless Account

If this sounds compelling to you, you may now be wondering how you can be a Faceless account. Well, here is how:

Choose an aesthetic

In a faceless account, your aesthetic becomes extremely important. This helps your audience recognize your brand as well as create a visually appealing experience for your new and current followers.

Canva is a great resource to use when creating a brand media kit, overall aesthetic with brand colors, etc. Branding is extremely important when it comes to marketing online and brand kits on Canva help you create visually appealing content that is recognizable.

Metricool has a collaboration with Canva where you can create your collateral and schedule it to your Metricool account directly through the app. This saves you tons of time while keeping you ultra-organized. You will just need to create your Metricool account:

Prioritize share-Worthy content

Advice, quotes, and memes are some examples of sharable content. Faceless marketing makes this easy because this will be the majority of your posts anyway. Sharing these topics that are tailored to your niche makes your content extremely shareable to your specific audience.

Interact with your audience

This part is fun as well. You kind of get to take on a new persona and answer your comments in your brand’s voice. If your brand or business had a voice how would you want it to sound? Use that when creating and responding to conversations with your audience. Because you are more of a mystery, you may be able to spark more authentic conversations with your audience.

Keep the mystery alive

If your goal is to be completely faceless, be sure that you are keeping locations, personal information, and your real voice and people anonymous!

Faceless Affiliate Marketing

To kick off this section, let’s first have a refresher on what affiliate marketing even means.

Affiliate marketing is when an “affiliate” (being the individual) and a brand or merchant create a mutually beneficial partnership, where the affiliate promotes the brand’s products via social media. Both parties benefit from this because, while brands receive organic traffic from social media outlets, affiliates get paid in return. Plus, for those affiliates that double as content creators, bloggers, graphic designers, or videographers, you can leverage your personal brand.

So can you utilize affiliate marketing faceless style?

The answer is yes! There are several ways you can partake in affiliate marketing without showing your face. It is important to note that if you want to be successful you must prioritize the quality of your posts. Make sure you are providing your audience with valuable information regarding the brand you are an affiliate of.

5 Ways to Use Faceless Affiliate Marketing

As we mentioned above, you may have the marketing skills and want to make money participating in your favorite brand’s affiliate programs but may not want to be in front of a camera. Don’t fret, here are 5 ways affiliates can market without showing their face:

  • Blogging: writing about how you recommend products and services does not require you to show your face at all. All you have to do is remain anonymous, create your niche, and create valuable blogs for your target audience.
  • Podcasts: Although podcasts commonly have video content now, it is not required. Talking about a brand or company on your podcast is a great way to be an affiliate.
  • Email Marketing: Similar to blogging, writing does not require you to show your face. Utilizing your contacts for email marketing can be beneficial to the company’s affiliate marketing programs.
  • Social Media: Choose your platform, and start crafting engaging and informative content that provides value to your followers. This can be through graphics, screen recordings, memes, etc.

At this point, we hope that you have a good understanding of Faceless marketing, its benefits, and how to utilize it through affiliate marketing. As always please drop us any pressing questions you have and we will be sure to answer.
