How to Change Your Instagram Password
If you’re one of those people who like to change your Instagram password regularly, this article is for you.
Perhaps for security concerns, because your team members have changed, or because you’ve switched social media agencies. What matters is having a secure password and in this post, we’re going to explain how to do it in the app or on the Instagram website.
Change your Instagram password from your phone
Let’s start with a mobile device and the Instagram app. Because, although lots of people use Instagram in a browser, the app makes the most of the functions of this social network.
That said, you may use Instagram on your phone and in a browser. If you don’t have the app installed yet, here are the links for iOS and Android.
Now let’s see how to change your Instagram password on your phone:
- Go into your Instagram profile on the app by clicking on the profile icon in the bottom-right corner.
- Tap the three-bar icon in the upper right and then Settings.
- In the ‘Settings’ tab, tap ‘Password’ and Instagram will send you an email to reset it.
- Log in with your email and tap ‘Reset password’.
- Instagram will open the app so you can create a new password.
- In the text boxes, enter and retype the new password.
- Finally, tap on the button to reset your password and you’re ready to go!
Change your Instagram password from your computer
If you’ve already taken notes on how to change your Instagram password from your phone, now it’s browser time.
As we mentioned before, many people use the Instagram website, although it’s not the most common because there are many functions that aren’t available here.
The process is practically the same, although it is even easier on the website.
Now, let’s get down to it!
- Log in to the Instagram account you want to change the password for on the website of the social network.
- On the homepage, click on the profile icon and then on ‘Settings’.
- On this screen, where you can change all your account settings, click on ‘Change password’.
- Now all you have to do is enter your current password, then a new one, and, finally, repeat the new one to confirm it.
- Click on ‘Change password’ and you’re done.
Tips for your password
Now we’ve explained how to change your Instagram password on the phone or computer, but you still don’t know what to use for your new one.
Here are some quick tips for the perfect password:
✅ Use letters, numbers, and symbols for a very strong password. You can also add capital and lowercase letters.
✅ Use several characters in your password. Apps recommend between 6 and 8 characters, enough to make it secure but still easy to remember.
✅ Don’t include personal info like your name, email address or username in your password.
✅ Use a password manager to store all your passwords for social media and other documents. Better digital than on paper.
Now you know everything you need to change your Instagram password and some tips for perfecting your new password.
