TikTok LIVE Subscriptions

18 March 2025

With TikTok being one of the leading social media networks worldwide, the network continues to create programs and features that help support content creator’s efforts and facilitate engagements with their audiences.

There are already a variety of ways that users can monetize their content on TikTok, including a program similar to LIVE subscriptions, called TikTok Series.

What is a LIVE Subscription on TikTok?

TikTok Live launched in 2021, where users with more than 1,000 followers could create live broadcasts directly from the network.

Since then, live videos have been a massive hit on TikTok, not just for content creators, but also for users who continue to consume this kind of content. According to a 2022 study, one in five live-streaming users watch TikTok LIVE, and 62% of that group watch it every day.

Therefore, the network has created a premium service for this kind of content, allowing content creators and subscribers to connect more authentically and personally.

How Do TikTok LIVE Subscriptions Work?

LIVE subscriptions are exclusive to live videos, providing benefits for creators and subscribers. While creators can earn money through their videos, subscribers can access exclusive content and even receive a badge.

This badge will appear next to a subscriber’s TikTok handle during the creator’s live stream. Also, the network will upgrade the badge if you continue to support these creators.

Subscribers also have access to exclusive stickers called emotes. These are personalized by creators that subscribers can use in the chat. When a creator goes LIVE, they can turn on subscriber-only chats, which allows only subscribers to comment. Plus, subscribers receive subscriber-only videos and lives.

Who Can Access TikTok LIVE Subscriptions?

Now, if you are a content creator you may be wondering how you can access this feature. Before starting, there are a few requirements that creators need to meet to unlock this:

  • Be at least 18 years old.
  • Have a minimum of 1,000 followers.
  • Have LIVE access and have conducted a live for at least 30 minutes in the last 28 days.

How to Subscribe to a Creator on TikTok

To become a subscriber to your favorite creator, usually, you can subscribe directly from a creator’s account by clicking on LIVE Subscription, which takes you directly to the creator’s subscription page.

At the bottom of this page, you will see a Subscribe button. Fill in the on-screen prompts, and then choose between a one-month subscription or an auto-renewal plan.

Alternatively, you can subscribe to a creator directly through their live video. To do this, find the star icon that will appear in the bottom-left corner of the creator’s live video. Then, select the Subscribe button and follow the on-screen steps.

How to Cancel a TikTok LIVE Subscription

TikTok LIVE paying subscribers

There are plenty of reasons why you might choose to stop a TikTok subscription. Maybe you feel like it’s not worth the cost – you’re just not getting enough value from it. Perhaps the creator’s content or style has shifted, and it no longer aligns with your interests. Or, it could be that your own tastes have changed, and their videos just don’t resonate with you anymore. Sometimes, the subscription fee might simply be more than you’re comfortable spending. Or maybe there’s another reason entirely!

Whatever the case, canceling a subscription doesn’t mean you can’t continue to support your favorite creators. There are still lots of ways to show your appreciation, such as sending gifts, engaging with their posts, sharing their content, or participating in their Live streams. To cancel or unsubscribe, follow these steps:

  • Open the TikTok app and go to your profile page.
  • Tap the three horizontal dots (⋯) on the top-right corner.
  • Tap “Manage account” or “Settings.”
  • Scroll down and tap “LIVE Subscription.”
  • Locate the creator you wish to unsubscribe to their LIVE
  • Tap “Cancel Subscription” or “Unsubscribe.”
  • Confirm that you want to cancel your subscription.

After canceling your subscription, you will no longer be charged for the service, but you may still have access to the subscription benefits until the end of your current billing cycle. If you’re having trouble canceling your subscription within the TikTok app, you can also try canceling it through the App Store (for iOS users) or Google Play Store (for Android users).

TikTok LIVE Creators

Canceling your TikTok live subscription gives you the flexibility to adjust your monetization approach. Whether you’re looking to pause your live streaming activities or experiment with other income-generating options, canceling your subscription lets you stay adaptable to shifting trends and audience preferences. It empowers you to make choices that align with your goals and the type of content your followers enjoy.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you cancel your TikTok live subscription:

  1. Launch the TikTok App: Open TikTok on your smartphone and log in to your account.
  2. Go to Your Profile: Tap the “Profile” icon located in the bottom-right corner of the screen to access your personal page.
  3. Access Settings: Click the three lines (either vertical or horizontal) in the top-right corner of your profile, then select “Creator Tools” from the menu.
  4. Find Live Subscriptions: Within the “Creator Tools” section, look for the “Live Subscriptions” option and tap it to view all subscriptions associated with your account.
  5. Locate Your Subscription: Browse through the list to find the specific live subscription you want to cancel, then click on it to see more details.
  6. Cancel the Subscription: From the subscription details page, follow the prompts to initiate the cancellation process. Be sure to adhere to any additional steps or instructions provided by TikTok.

Before proceeding with cancellation, take a moment to review TikTok’s terms and conditions regarding the process so you’re aware of any potential limitations or implications. Additionally, it’s a good idea to inform your subscribers about your decision. Communicating openly about why you’re making this change can help maintain trust and address any concerns they may have, ensuring a smooth transition without unnecessary confusion.

How Much Do LIVE Subscriptions Cost?

Currently, you have the option to set a monthly price ranging from $2.99 to $99.99, allowing you to shape your LIVE community into either a more inclusive or exclusive group. TikTok will share up to 50% of the net revenue they earn with you.

Keep in mind: You can adjust your pricing every 90 days, so choose wisely and experiment to find what resonates best with your audience.

TikTok Live Subscription Updates

As TikTok Live subscriptions become more popular, TikTok has made a new update. As part of their efforts to build more diversified creator monetization opportunities to support our creators, they introduced the addition of a new LIVE Subscription perk they call “Subscriber-Only Videos”.

Subscriber-only videos are exclusive videos that only subscribers can view. The new perk encourages interactions beyond the LIVE room, allowing subscribers to like, comment, and reply to one another. This was to help creators foster even more meaningful and authentic connections with their community.

This is the TikTok LIVE Subscription feature, and how users can subscribe to their favorite creators. To learn more ways to monetize your TikTok account, follow the guide below!
