TikTok Series
Creators are emerging all across TikTok, creating large audiences and cult followings. With this, TikTok has released a new way for creators to share premium content on the app, called Series.
Yet another program to add to the list, what are TikTok Series and how do they work? Keep reading to learn more!
What is TikTok Series?
TikTok Series was developed to deepen the connection between creators and their audiences, through quality content. As we have seen other platforms tap into subscription content such as Twitter Blue, TikTok has added their own rendition.Â
Of course, this isn’t the only monetization option available on TikTok, as they have also created TikTok LIVE Subscriptions, TikTok Creator Fund, and TikTok Pulse.Â
Series will allow creators to share Collections, that users can purchase for viewing access. What are Collections?Â
Collections are a way to organize your Favorites, allowing you to group these videos into collections. You can create collections in two ways: from your Profile Page or the For You feed.Â
How to create a Collection from your Profile page:
- Head to the TikTok app and log in to your account
- Go to your profile and click on the Favorites icon
- Tap “Create new Collection”
- Name your collection (max of 30 characters)
You can also select, “All Favorites” and arrange videos into collections from there.
How to create a Collection from the For You page:
- Find the video you want to save, and click on Add to favorites
- Click Manage, and then add the video to an existing Collection, or create a new one.
If you make a new collection, you can name the Collection and start adding more videos!
How do TikTok Series work?
Now that you know how to access and create a collection, what can TikTok Series include?
One Series can have up to 80 videos, with each video a maximum of 20 minutes.
This allows creators to publish a variety of content such as story times, tutorials, and cooking videos, all in one collection for followers to view.
The cost of these subscriptions depends on the creator, as each creator can set their Series prices depending on the value of the content. This is a great opportunity for creators to take advantage of the longer-form content, considering regular videos have a cap of 10 minutes.
How to access TikTok Series
For those interested in subscribing to their favorite creators’ accounts, this content can be purchased through a direct in-video link, or on the creator’s profile page.
As usual, content on TikTok Series must follow the Community Guidelines, set by the network.Â
Right now, TikTok Series is only available to certain creators, but as this feature develops more, in the future other creators will be able to apply to this program.
The app has announced that as of now, creators will keep 100% of their Series earnings, however, this could change in the coming months.
