Instagram Carousel Limit Increased to 20 Photos or Videos

09 August 2024

Instagram has officially begun its global rollout of an expanded carousel feature, allowing users to add up to 20 photos and videos to their feed carousels, an increase from the previous limit of 10. Announced via Threads from creator Lia Haberman (@liahaberman), this update aims to improve user engagement and content sharing on the platform.

Now you can add up to 20 pieces of content (photos and vids) to your feed carousels vs. just 10. The new carousel feature offers creators increased flexibility in showcasing their work. With the ability to add more content in a single post, users can craft more immersive experiences for their followers. This change is particularly beneficial for brands and influencers, as it allows for more comprehensive storytelling, whether they are sharing event highlights, product showcases, or personal moments.

While some people have reported being able to upload as many as 20 pieces, others are still experiencing the previous limit of 10. Instagram has confirmed that this feature is being rolled out gradually, with feedback from users being collected to refine the experience. The company previously tested similar expansions, allowing select users to upload up to 15 images, indicating a phased approach to the broader rollout.

This update is expected to impact how users interact with content on Instagram, potentially increasing engagement metrics like watch time and scroll-through rates. As Instagram continues to evolve, this feature could redefine how users engage with the platform.
