How Often Should Businesses Post on Social Media?

04 September 2025

Posting frequency is a constant hot topic for social media marketers. “How often should I post?”, “Should I be posting every day?”, “ Should I post at the same time every day?”, are all questions you may find yourself asking when posting on social media for business. As always, the answer varies, depending on your business needs and the social network in question. But we know “it depends” is not the answer you’re here for, which is why we’ve analyzed over 20 million posts from 8 platforms in our 2025 social media study, to understand how post frequency has fluctuated over the past year. So let’s get into it.

The Stats: How Often to Post for Business?

As many of you are already aware, social media platforms all have their key differences when it comes to formats, audience demographics, and algorithms. So,  there’s no one-size-fits-all strategy when it comes to how often you should post on social media.

Finding the right posting rhythm is about striking a balance between maintaining a consistent presence that helps you reach your business goals while avoiding burnout for yourself and your audience. This guide breaks down the recommended posting frequencies for each social network.

How Often Should Businesses Post on Instagram?

Instagram is a visually-driven platform where the algorithm rewards both consistency and high-quality content. For businesses wondering how often to post on Instagram, there is a consensus that a frequent, but manageable, schedule is the most effective.

  • Feed Posts (Photos, Carousels, Reels): Most experts recommend posting to your main feed 3 to 5 times per week. This cadence keeps your brand visible without overwhelming your followers. It also gives you enough space to share a variety of content formats, from static images to engaging carousels and Reels. The key is to prioritize quality over quantity. Two great posts a week will always outperform five mediocre ones. Our study showed that regular posts (-37%) and Reels (-11%) were posted less frequently last year, showing that users are focusing on quality over quantity. Instagram’s algorithm moving away from showing content chronologically in recent years may also be a factor.
  • Instagram Stories: The story feature is designed for more frequent, informal content. A good target for how often to post on Instagram for business is at least one Story per day, with many successful accounts posting 3 or more. The high-volume nature of Stories helps you stay at the top of your followers’ minds without clogging their main feed. This is where you can share behind-the-scenes content, polls, Q&As, and other interactive elements that encourage direct engagement. Although we found that Stories posting frequency fell by over 33%, the figure of 8.85 weekly stories shows that posting at least one story a day can still be effective.

Ultimately, your ideal frequency on Instagram is the one you can sustain without sacrificing the quality of your content. Start with a manageable number, like three feed posts and a few stories a week, and then adjust based on your audience’s response.

How Often Should Businesses Post on Facebook?

Facebook remains a major player for businesses that want to build a community. The platform’s algorithm favors content that encourages conversation and interaction. The question of how often a business should post to Facebook has shifted over the years.

  • For Business Pages: Posting 1 to 2 times per day is a solid approach. This frequency keeps your page active and gives your community a reason to check in regularly. However, the most important thing is to focus on quality over quantity. One or two highly engaging posts that get a lot of comments will be more effective than a dozen low-effort updates.
  • For Groups: If your business runs a private Facebook group, posting frequency can be much higher. Daily content, including questions, polls, and live videos, helps build a strong and engaged community.

The audience on Facebook is often looking for both informational and entertaining content. A good how often should you post to Facebook strategy mixes different content types, such as photos, links, videos, and questions, to keep your feed interesting and engaging. We found that Reels are an untapped resource on Facebook, despite reach increasing by 13% last year, frequency fell by 7%, so be sure to take advantage of them.

How Often Should Businesses Post on X (Twitter)?

X is a fast-paced network where content has a short lifespan. The feed moves quickly, so to be seen, you have to be active. The answer to how often to post on X is the highest of all the major platforms.

  • For Business Accounts: To stay relevant on X, a business should post at least 3 to 5 times per day, and some even post more than a dozen times daily. This constant presence helps you get noticed in the fast-moving feed, where posts can be buried within minutes.
  • For Engagement: X is a conversational platform. A good strategy is to not only post original content but also to reply to others, retweet relevant posts, and participate in trending conversations.

The high frequency on X is about having a constant presence in the conversation. It is a very different approach from other platforms and requires a lot of consistent, real-time work to be effective. X posting frequency fell by 38% in 2024; however, this can be attributed to the polarizing direction the platform has taken recently. Despite this, both impressions (+50%) and clicks (+30%)  increased dramatically, showing that there is still plenty of growth to be achieved on the platform.

How Often to Post on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn is a professional network where the audience values insights, thought leadership, and networking. The posting frequency here is about building a reputation as a trusted voice in your industry. So, how often to post on LinkedIn?

  • For Personal Accounts: For individuals, posting 2 to 5 times per week is a great way to build your personal brand and stay active in your professional community.
  • For Company Pages: For businesses, a consistent schedule of 1 to 2 times per day can keep your company top of mind for clients, potential employees, and partners.

The LinkedIn algorithm rewards meaningful engagement, so focus on creating posts that spark conversations and provide real value. It’s more important to write a thoughtful post that gets comments and shares than to post a low-effort update every hour. LinkedIn is another platform with a great opportunity to capitalise on growing engagement. There were huge increases in interactions (99%) and clicks (122%), despite weekly posting frequency decreasing by 25%.

How Often Should Businesses Post on TikTok?

TikTok is a platform built on a constant stream of short-form video content. To succeed here, you need to be active and produce content that feels authentic to the platform’s culture. The answer to how often to post on TikTok is higher than on most other networks.

  • To See Growth: For businesses looking for solid growth on TikTok, posting 3 to 5 times per week is a good starting point. This ensures you have enough content in the algorithm to find a footing.
  • To Go Viral: While there is no magic formula for going viral, a high volume of content increases your chances. Accounts that see rapid growth and consistent viral videos often post once or more per day. The more content you have, the more opportunities you have for one of your videos to take off.

The TikTok algorithm rewards accounts that are active and consistent. However, the quality of your content is still the most important factor. Rather than focusing on a specific number, focus on creating videos that are entertaining, informative, or relatable. Test different frequencies, check your analytics to see how your audience responds, and find a rhythm that works for you.

How Often Should You Post on YouTube?

Unlike the quick, disposable content of TikTok, YouTube is a platform for long-form, evergreen content. The audience here expects a different kind of commitment from creators and brands. The question of how often to post on YouTube is less about daily visibility and more about consistent, high-quality releases.

  • For Main Channel Videos: The consensus among successful creators is that posting once per week is the ideal frequency. This gives you enough time to produce high-quality, well-researched, and properly edited content without leading to burnout. While some channels can produce content more frequently, a weekly schedule is a sustainable pace that most creators can maintain.
  • For Shorts: YouTube Shorts are a great way to stay visible between your main video uploads. For how often to post YouTube Shorts, you can be much more frequent. Posting 3 to 5 Shorts per week is a good way to test new content ideas, drive traffic to your main videos, and stay in front of your audience’s eyes.

Your main goal on YouTube should always be to create valuable, high-quality content that your audience wants to watch. A consistent weekly schedule shows your audience that they can rely on you for new content, which builds a loyal following over time.

How Often Should You Post on Pinterest?

When it comes to Pinterest, the rules are different. Unlike other platforms that prioritize real-time content, Pinterest is a visual search engine where content has a long lifespan. A pin you publish today can continue to get views and saves for months or even years. This is why the question of posting frequency on Pinterest is a bit more complex. While some sources recommend posting 1 to 3 times per day for consistent growth, others suggest a much higher volume of 5 to 10 pins per day for more rapid growth. Pinterest itself states that a weekly cadence is a good rule of thumb, emphasizing that quality and relevance matter more than high frequency. Our study found that Pinterest posting frequency increased from just under 6 to over 7 posts per week last year, an increase of 25.8%. Clicks (+55%) and impressions (+24%) increased drastically in this time, proving that you can improve your online presence with the right content on this platform.

The best strategy is to find a schedule that you can consistently maintain while creating high-quality, fresh content. This means focusing on visually appealing pins with strong keywords and descriptions that will help them get discovered in searches. Using a social media uploader that can help you schedule pins in bulk is a good way to maintain a consistent presence without the daily stress of manual pinning.
