TikTok Expands Content Subscriptions to Creators
In 2022, TikTok launched LIVE subscriptions, allowing creators with over 1,000 followers to monetize their LIVE broadcasts. Now, the network has extended this feature to eligible creators in select regions.
Like Instagram subscriptions, creators can customize their prices and content offerings. TikTok subscriptions include three pricing tiers, allowing creators to provide multiple package options.
TikTok describes creator offers as the following:
- Private Communication Channels: Privileged access to various communication channels, including Sub Space, chats, comments, and messages, for direct interaction with their subscribers.
- Exclusive Content: Special videos, LIVEs, and notes that are only visible to subscribers.
- Community Identifiers: Unique stickers for use during LIVEs and evolving badges that appear next to subscribers’ names on their profiles and in comments, reflecting the creator’s distinct community identity.
- Customized Perks: Ready-made perks provided by TikTok, such as performance requests, Discord roles, shoutouts, and LIVE topics, or custom perks designed by the creator specifically for their community.
TikTok Subscription Requirements
Creators can check their subscription eligibility within TikTok Studio. The basic requirements for this feature are:
- Creators must be at least 18 years old
- Have an account in good standing with at least 10k followers
- Have 100k video views in the past calendar month OR
- Meet specific LIVE eligibility requirements
With this criteria in mind, this feature is tailored towards larger, established creators. However, creators looking to leverage this feature can engage their audience in a more intimate, exclusive experience.
