1.3 How to Upload Content on TikTok

Posting on TikTok is simple, but understanding the basic flow of the app will make you feel more confident from the start. Once you get used to the interface, the process becomes very intuitive.

How to upload a video:

  • Open TikTok and tap the “+” button.
  • Record a video or upload one from your gallery.
  • Add effects, filters, or sounds if you want.
  • Tap the red checkmark.
  • Edit your video.
  • Tap “Next.”
  • Add your caption, hashtags, and cover.
  • Choose your visibility settings.
  • Tap Post or save it as a draft.

How to upload photos:

To post images on TikTok, you have the option to display them as a video, but here we’re interested in making this post appear as a carousel.

How to create a carousel on TikTok?

  • Tap the “+” button.
  • Select Upload.
  • Choose one or more photos.
  • Tap Next.
  • Edit your video.
  • Tap “Next.”
  • Add your caption, hashtags, and cover.
  • Add a trending TikTok sound.
  • Tap Post.

You can upload up to 35 photos in a single carousel.

This format works especially well for educational or step-by-step content.

For example:

  • A fitness coach could share “3 exercises for stronger glutes.”
  • A beauty creator might post a “Morning routine for oily skin.”
  • A B2B agency could create a “3 LinkedIn mistakes to avoid” carousel.
