Metricool API Guide: Connect Your Tools and Automate Your Workflow

The Metricool API connects your social accounts directly to the tools you already use for reporting, scheduling, and storing assets. Instead of exporting numbers by hand or bouncing between three publishing tabs, you plug Metricool into what you’ve already got running, and the data moves on its own.
What the Metricool API Can Do for Social Media Marketers
For agencies, creators, and marketing managers, the Metricool API changes how you can build, publish, and measure social campaigns.
- Automated Scheduling and Multi-Channel Publishing: Send content straight into Metricool’s planner from a cloud folder, a CMS, or a media calendar you already run. Once it’s scheduled, Metricool auto-publishes across every connected network: Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, YouTube, and Pinterest.
- Consolidated Performance Reporting: Pulling metrics by hand across several accounts adds up fast. The API streams engagement rates, click counts, video views, and follower growth straight into your reporting dashboard or tracker, so the numbers show up without the copy-paste.
- Community Interaction and Message Syncing: The API pulls incoming comments and DMs from your connected networks into whatever tool you already use to triage them: your internal help desk, a shared inbox, Slack etc.
- Competitor Monitoring: Automatically track competitor growth, posting cadence, and top-performing content so you can benchmark your performance without manually checking profiles every week.
Connecting the Metricool API to Your Favorite Marketing Tools
You don’t need to write a line of code to connect Metricool to your tools. Built-in integrations, no-code connectors, and AI protocol support cover most of what you’ll need.
Conversational AI Models (Claude and ChatGPT via MCP)
Metricool supports the Model Context Protocol, so Claude or ChatGPT can work with your social data directly in conversation. Ask which of your Reels performed best last month, compare engagement across platforms, or have the assistant draft post copy based on what’s already worked, then schedule it straight into your planner.
No-Code Automation Suites (Make and Zapier)
Turn new rows in a shared spreadsheet into scheduled posts in Metricool. Trigger a social announcement the moment a blog goes live or a product launches. Route leads from your social ads straight into your email tool or sales pipeline.
Custom Reporting Dashboards (Looker Studio, Power BI, Google Sheets)
Looker Studio pulls real-time social metrics into dashboards you can hand straight to a client. Or skip the dashboard tool and pull daily totals into Google Sheets or Excel to calculate ROI across paid and organic content yourself.
Design and Asset Storage (Canva, Google Drive, Adobe Express)
Pull images, video, and templates from Google Drive straight into the Metricool scheduler, no downloading first. Import finished graphics from Canva or Adobe Express the same way.
Setting Up the Metricool API in 3 Steps
Connecting Metricool to an external tool takes a few minutes, start to finish.
- Grab your API token: In Metricool, open the menu in the top right, go to Account Settings, then API, and copy your secret token.
- Find your brand ID: Open the dashboard for the brand you want to connect. The number after blogId= in your browser’s address bar is your brand ID.
- Connect the two: Paste the token and brand ID into your target tool’s settings, whether that’s Make, Zapier, Looker Studio, or Claude Desktop, and the connection is live.
Your API token is sitting in Account Settings right now. Grab it, connect one tool, and see how your workflow improves by next week. For a more in-depth technical breakdown, download the complete guide:
